Physical Therapy for Parkinson's: Move Better, Fall Less, Stay Independent

Helping adults with Parkinson's improve walking, balance, and strength, reduce fall risk, and take back the daily movements that have gotten harder, through personalized one-on-one physical therapy.

Who We Help

Physical Therapy Session

At One Step Physio & Fitness, we help adults living with Parkinson's Disease better understand their bodies, manage their symptoms, and build the strength and confidence to keep moving well.

Our patients often come to us after being told to just stay active, without anyone showing them how. Some were diagnosed recently and want to get ahead of things. Others have been managing Parkinson's for years and have noticed the everyday stuff getting harder. Wherever you are in this, whether your symptoms are mild or you've already had a fall, we provide individualized care built around your body and your goals.

You may benefit from physical therapy if you're experiencing:

  • Steps that have gotten smaller, slower, or shuffling

  • Freezing at doorways, in tight spaces, or when you turn

  • Trouble getting out of a chair, out of the car, or up from bed

  • Stiffness or slowness that makes daily tasks take longer

  • Balance that feels unsteady, or a fall you haven't fully recovered from

  • Difficulty walking while talking, carrying something, or in a crowd

  • Handwriting that has gotten smaller or harder to read

  • Uncertainty about how to exercise safely with Parkinson's

Nikki provides one-on-one physical therapy focused on helping you understand your symptoms, protect your independence, and build a sustainable approach to movement that supports your goals.

How We Help

At One Step Physio & Fitness, we help adults with Parkinson's Disease understand what's changing in their movement, build strength and balance, and move with more confidence in daily life.

Whether you were diagnosed last month, you've noticed walking and balance slipping, or you've had a fall that shook your confidence, we create a personalized plan based on your body, your symptoms, and the life you want to keep living.

What we address in physical therapy:

  • Walking speed, step length, and the shuffle that creeps in

  • Freezing episodes and how to get moving again when they hit

  • Balance, fall risk, and recovering confidence after a fall

  • Transfers, so chairs, beds, and cars stop being a battle

  • Stiffness, slowness, and rigidity that make daily tasks drag

  • Fine motor tasks like buttons, utensils, and handwriting

  • Moving safely while multitasking, in crowds, or on uneven ground

During Your One-on-One Sessions, We Focus On:

Understanding What's Changed

Identifying the movement patterns, strength deficits, and Parkinson's-specific factors behind your symptoms.

Retraining Big, Confident Movement

Using amplitude-based training and targeted exercise to restore the size and speed of your movement, from your steps to your handwriting.

Building Balance and Reducing Fall Risk

Training your balance, reaction time, and recovery so you feel steady on your feet and less afraid of falling.

Creating a Sustainable Plan

Providing the education, home program, and tools you need to hold onto your progress and keep doing the activities that matter most to you.

Every session is one-on-one with a doctor of physical therapy who specializes in Parkinson's Disease.
